On Thursday 21st March a small band of Year 8 students took the field at Curtin University to play their first ever rugby league game for the school.  Despite never having played as a team, and in some cases never having played the game before, they won!

This fine group of ten young men took on all challengers throughout the day.  Teams from other schools, including Aranmore Catholic College, Atwell College, Rockingham Senior High School, Carine Senior High School and Thornlie Senior High School, were able to interchange their whole team, with squads of up to twenty players at their disposal.

Our boys ran all day to the point of exhaustion, and were fine ambassadors for our school, displaying tireless endeavour, respect and outstanding sportsmanship.  In the end, the boys won five of their ten games; an outstanding result for such an undermanned and inexperienced squad.

Congratulations boys on a fine day’s work!  I look forward to your next campaign and hope that we will have a few more players available.
