In 2011 as the result of an outstanding performance at a lightning carnival, our Year 9 rugby league team was invited to join the West Australian Rugby League Special Schools’ competition.  Four years later, on November 20th, 2014, at Curtin University Stadium, all the hard work came to fruition when the Clarkson Community High School Senior League Team defeated Thornlie SHS in the Specialist Schools Grand Final.

With an awesome display of skill, teamwork and determination the Clarkson boys dominated Thornlie from the outset, culminating in an 18 to 6 point win.  The grit, expertise, effort and solidarity shown by the boys was inspirational, and a credit to the coaches who have worked with them over the years.  Full credit must go to Ms Jodie Wielgomasz, who worked tirelessly with the team in the early years to ensure they were well grounded in the basics; to Ed Easter and his team of coaches from the WARL, who dedicated much time to our teams, and more recently to Mal Clark and Donny Stevenson for their support.

Clarkson has seen many good individual performances over the years, with a number of our players being selected in state representative teams, but after finals appearances each year it is wonderful to finally bring home the team trophy.  Fantastic performance boys!  I am very proud of you all.
