At 15 years-old, Jack Porter is already being compared to his idol Fremantle Dockers star Stephen Hill.

The Clarkson Community High School student, who lives and breaths AFL, has been nominated by the Times’ as a HBF Junior Sports Hero for his talent and positive attitude on and off the field.

Jack grew up in a family of football enthusiasts and started playing footy himself at the age of three.

The stand-out sportsman now plays for the Wanneroo Junior Football Club and is part of the West Perth Development Squad.

“I eventually would like to play AFL, so I’m going to keep focused and work hard at it,” Jack said.

“I train for about three to four hours each day and I’m straight into the gym as soon as I finish school.”

Despite juggling school work with an intensive training schedule, Jack still finds time to spend with his younger brother Ethan (12) who has a slight neurological disorder and problem with his hips.

“He likes AFL, but it’s a lot harder for him to play it.

“If he’s had a bad day I like to be there to help him out by taking him for a run with me.

“As his older brother I want to inspire him, so he can look up to me as a leader,” he said.

Jack’s mother Michelle said she couldn’t be more proud of her son.

“He’s a talented player and we want him to pursue his career,” Mrs Porter said.

“He always encourages his younger brother to never give up and devotes his time to helping others achieve what they set out to,” she said.

Jack will find out if he’s the winner of the HBF Junior Sports Hero Competition early next year.
