Clarkson Community High School received two ‘Spirit of Anzac’ grevilleas from veterans recently.
Returned Services League WA president Graham Edwards and Quinns Rocks RSL president Peter Lofdahl joined school representatives for a commemorative breakfast this month.
Mr Lofdahl said the RSL sub-branch would be donating the plants to other local schools, with Clarkson the first to receive a pair of grevilleas.
Mr Edwards said the grevilleas had been propagated at Kings Park for the Anzac Centenary celebrations “as something that’s a living reminder of the spirit of the Anzacs”.
Principal John Young said the initiative was about celebrating Australian characteristics, such as mateship and resilience, as well as the commitment to service and doing what was right before self-interest.
