Adding beauty training to the school curriculum has boosted students' attendance, skills and confidence, a Clarkson teacher says. Clarkson Community High School's vocational education and training head Anne-Marie Ellery said the school started investigating a beauty training facility in 2014, and introduced the course this year in a custom-built salon.

 

Teenagers will swap their uniforms for overalls and get their hands greasy this year working on a rusty old ute that is more than 50 years old. Clarkson Community High School has invested in a 1964 EH Holden ute for its Year 12 automotive students to repair and refurbish. Principal John Young said the school bought the ute off Gumtree for about $5000, including delivery, and he hoped the students would enjoy working on an iconic Australian vehicle.

Lacing up their bright new kicks, there was an extra bounce in the students' steps as they started their weekly fitness session with the WA Police Academy trainers.

A group of high school students got a taste of what it is like to be a police recruit yesterday, with Year 10s and Year 11s facing the punishing Joondalup Police Academy obstacle course.

At 15 years-old, Jack Porter is already being compared to his idol Fremantle Dockers star Stephen Hill.

The Clarkson Community High School student, who lives and breaths AFL, has been nominated by the Times’ as a HBF Junior Sports Hero for his talent and positive attitude on and off the field.

The Lions Club’s Alkimos Butler branch president Debra Smith presented Clarkson Community High School with $479.40 this month to supply its uniform exchange program.
